    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display cell which is made lightweight by reducing the thickness of glass and can have enough strength needed for its manufacturing process. SOLUTION: Provided are a color filter substrate 10 which has an image display area and a TFT array substrate 20 which is arranged opposite to the color filter substrate 10 and has a frame edge part 24 positioned along its circumference and a recessed part 22 surrounded with the frame edge part 24. The frame edge part 24 of the TFT array substrate 20 is formed thicker than the recessed part 22. The color filter substrate 10 has a frame edge part 12 and a recessed part 11 surrounded with the frame edge part 12, and the frame edge part 12 is formed thicker than the recessed part 11. The thickness of the recessed part 11 or the thickness of the frame edge part 12 and the thickness of the recessed part 11 are made smaller than the thickness of the frame edge part 24 of the TFT array substrate 20.
