Abstract: A data selection method, comprising receiving first data representative of program code (e.g. SQL or JDBC) comprising database operations, generating second data such as a control flow graph representative of a sequence of operations which could be encountered in an execution of the program code, the sequence of operations comprising at least one of the database operations, and selecting third data from a database using the second data to generate a subset of the database. The method may further comprise establishing, for a parameter used in an operation belonging to the sequence of operations, a value or the parameter at an onset or the sequence of operations, and establishing, using the value, a collection of values of the parameter which could be encountered in an execution of the sequence of operations, wherein the selecting data uses the collection of values.
