Abstract: The present application relates to a set of components for a printer frame which includes a base frame member (10) and two side frame members (12, 14). The base frame member (10) is formed with two locating receptacles (22) adapted to receive cooperating portions (28, 26) of the side frame members (12, 14) and means for securing the side frame members (12, 14) to the base frame member (10) with the cooperating portions (28, 26) of the side frame members (12, 14) engaged in the locating receptacles (22). … The application is characterised in that the means for securing the side frame members (12, 14) to the base frame member (10) comprises two latches (30) on the base frame member (10), resilient cushion members (18) adapted to be located between the side frame members (12, 14) and the base frame member (10) and a locking member (45, 43) on each of the side frame members (12, 14) adapted to engage with a respective latch (30). … The present application also relates to a method of assembling a set of components for a printer frame as defined above including the steps of placing the cushion means (18) on the base frame member (10), placing the side frame members (12, 14) on the cushion members (18) so that the cooperating portions of the side frame members (12, 14) engage in the locating receptacles (22) on the base frame member (10) and operating the securing means to secure the side frame members (12, 14) to the base frame member (10). … The method is characterised by operating the securing means automatically by pressing each side frame member (12, 14) towards the base frame member (10) so that each locking member (45, 43) engages with a respective latch (30).

Abstract: The invention relates to apparatus for performing operations on a continuous web of material (D), for example a printer performing printing operations on a continuous web document, including a housing (10), an operating mechanism (13, 14) located within the housing for performing operations on the web of material, a web feeding mechanism (24, 26, 33) located within the housing for feeding the web past the operating mechanism so that the operating mechanism can perform operations on the web, and a device for use in the removal of a portion of the web on which operations have been performed. … The invention is characterised in that the device for use in the removal of a portion of the web comprises a web engaging member (50) movably supported within the housing (10) for movement between a normal position in which it is spaced from the web (D) to allow free passage of the web past the operating mechanism (13, 14) and an operating position in which it engages and grips a portion of the web (D) downstream of the operating mechanism (13, 14). The device further comprises an operating member (52, 60) connected to the web engaging member (50) and located outside the housing (10) for operation by an operator to move the web engaging member (50) from the normal free passage position into the operating web engaging position, whereby the web (D) may be engaged and gripped by the web gripping member (50) while the portion of the web located downstream of the web engaging member may be torn off from the rest of the web.
