Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an expert user to quickly and efficiently interact in a speech- based interface system. SOLUTION: This categorized speech-based interface system is provided with a prompt delivering system for delivering prompts to users. The prompts comprise at least a full prompts and a tapered prompts. The interface system farther comprises structure for determining the quantity of at least one of correct response and an incorrect response to the prompts. This prompt delivering system delivers the tapered prompts in response to the determination of a quantity of at least one of correct response and incorrect response. This prompt delivering system delivers the tapered prompts as much as possible, and when the user does not properly respond to the tapered prompts, this prompt distributing system delivers the full prompts, and when the user does not properly respond to the full prompts, this system automatically delivers help prompts.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for updating a language model in a speech recognition engine for speech application, without subsantially calling a user interactive dialog box during session for correcting erroneous recognition of a speech. SOLUTION: This language model updating method in speech application during a correcting session includes a step for comparing a voice of an original oral statement text with a voice of a substituted text acoustically each other, and a step for updating the language model by correction to update thereby the language model without user interaction, when a result compared acoustically hereinbefore is near enough to indicate correction for mis-recognition error other than editting for a new voice. The updating step is allowed to contain a step for adding a new word to a vocabulary of the speech application.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective method for vice spelling which can be used by an audio-dedicated interface.
SOLUTION: The voice spelling method can include a step where the audio- dedicated interface receives a plurality of audio signals showing speech characters and a plurality of speech characters specifying a character string and a step for providing audible feedback between speech characters received through the audio-dedicated interface. Additionally, this method can include a step for audibly reproducing the respective speech characters through the audio-dedicated interface, a step for approving one voice choice among the reproduced characters and also identifies a character of problem if any, a step for specifying a substitute character, and a step for substituting the character identified in a specified character string for the character having the problem.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a person disabled to read or device having no display to perform voice recognition and registration by instructing a user in voice so as to read a text phrase reproduced in voice. SOLUTION: The user is instructed to keep silence while reproducing a phrase and to read respective phrases after the end of reproduction of the respective phrases and a present phrase is reproduced (S26). The present phrase is reproduced in a voice 2. When the present phrase is completely reproduced, the read of that reproduced phrase due to the user is waited. When the phrase read by the user can be accepted (S44), the opportunity of selection of whether registration is to be performed at that time point or registration is to be suspended can be applied to the user as well. Thus, a person disabled to read, user disabled to read a text or user defining another language as the first language can perform registration to a voice recognition system.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the total accuracy of voice recognizing processing related to a user by providing a step for monitoring an application program and a step for discriminating whether or not an erroneously recognized word in a test dictating one text correction input is to be corrected. SOLUTION: An operating system 24 and an audio text processor application 28 are monitored and all the changes or corrections executed by the user are identified (S52). Next, it is first discriminated whether or not a certain dictated text is displayed while being intensified or selected by the user (S54). In the case of YES, it is secondly discriminated whether or not a new text is inserted in the text displayed while being intensified by the user (S56). Then, it is discriminated whether the text displayed while being intensified is deleted or not (S58), and after cursor confirmation, it is discriminated whether the new text can be inserted in place of the deleted text or not (S62 and S64).

Abstract: A method for updating a language model in a speech application during a correction session comprises the steps of: automatically acoustically comparing to one another audio of originally dictated text and audio for replacement text; and, automatically updating the language model with a correction if the acoustical comparison is close enough to indicate that the new audio represents correction of a misrecognition error rather than an edit, whereby the language model can be updated without user interaction. The updating step can comprise adding new words to a vocabulary in the speech application.
