Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for freely rewriting the reception information of a network manager within the range of a standard network protocol. SOLUTION: A variable is inserted to one of the fixed fields defined beforehand of an MIB module 28 and first paths 43 and 44 for dynamically setting a reference or the like to a script are supplied. The script reference is substituted for the variable inserted to the fixed field. The referred script defines a user option for operating a server and the like 14 and 30 and a value relating to this network resource is detected. Further, a second path to the script reference is supplied, inquiries 43 and 44 on the second path activate a script operation, an inquired value is supplied and the value is distributed 34 and 36 to an inquired network manager 12. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for enhancing change control in an operation executed by an operation management product (OMP). SOLUTION: This system/method automates a check for a request-for-change (RFC) by the OMP, when the OMP is installed under the environment where a change management database (CMDB) is installed and when a resource or operation is placed under strict change control. The OMP requests the assignment of an RFC identifier, when a change operation of the OMP is started up. The RFC identifier is used, by the OMP, to access a service management system, so that the OMP can determine whether the RFC identifier is valid or not, whether an IT resource is under a correct state or not, and whether the change is scheduled to be executed at the current time or not. The change operation related to the RFC is permitted to be generated, when the checks therefor are satisfied. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for generating and managing the plural copies of a client data file in a data processing system using a client server constitution. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a server 20 connected with plural client systems 15 for compiling the sets of storage volumes in storage pools. In this case, the primary copy of a client data file is stored in a primary storage pool 40, and the additional back-up copy of the client data file is copied to a copy storage pool 50. Directory information related to the first client data file and reference information related with the positions of the plural file copies in the server are maintained in a server data base. A storage manager 30 designates and adjusts the direction of the transfer of the file among various storage pools as a control center in the server, and updates a server data base 60 for the direction information and the reference position information.
Abstract:
A data processing system using a client-server configuration provides a method and apparatus for generating and managing multiple copies of client data files. A server coupled to a plurality of client systems organizes sets of storage volumes into storage pools. Primary copies of the client data files are stored in primary storage pools while additional back-up copies of the client data files are copied to secondary storage pools, called copy storage pools. A server database maintains directory information about the original client data file and reference information about the location of the multiple file copies within the server. A storage manager provides a control centre within the server, directing and coordinating the transfer of files between the various storage pools, and updating the server database with directory and reference location information.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method, embodiable in computer readable program code in a network resource, for dynamically changing a network protocol management information base (MIB) module, the protocol requiring predetermined fixed fields in the MIB module. The method comprises inserting a variable in one of the predetermined fixed fields in the MIB module, and providing a first path for dynamically setting a reference to a script which substitutes for the variable, the referenced script defining a user option for operating the network resource. The referenced script operation may sense a value related to the network resource. A second path is provided to the script reference, whereby a query on the second path activates the script operation to provide the value at the MIB, and the provided value is delivered on the second path. The referenced script operation may additionally comprise conducting an operation of the network resource, and the value relates to the operation of the network resource. The second path provided to the script reference allows a query on the second path to activate the script operation and to provide the value at the MIB.
