Abstract: A collaboration system and method for selectively providing access to portions of Web content for display to users according to levels of access privilege and for directing different portions of the Web content for display at different user-designated devices. The inventive system and method of Web browsing does not restrict the multimedia output to the requesting device, such that the end user can choose which device should receive the Web content, and can even select several devices that will collaborate to display the Web content. A proxy entity is introduced between the Web server and the user location(s). Documents which are to be presented to multiple users have a policy file that defines multiple privilege groups. Each privilege group has access to a different set of tags. Each user will login into a given group, and will also identify to the proxy, via service discovery, all of the devices that the user owns. Given all of this information, the proxy can construct an overall mapping of permitted tags to permitted output devices, i.e. each tag that the user is permitted to access is mapped to one or more output devices that the user owns or is permitted to access.
