Abstract: A LATENT IMAGE PRINTING DEVICE COMPRISING A SUBSTRATE, A FIRST LAYER OF ABRASIVE MATERIAL, AND A SECOND LAYER OF NON-ABRASIVE MATERIAL PLACED AS A NEGATIVE FACSIMILE OF THE IMAGE TO BE PRINTED UPON SAID FIRST LAYER, SAID LAYERS MATCHED FOR SIMILARITY OF PROPERTIES OF COLOR, GLOSS AND FLUORESCENCE, TO RENDER THE IMAGE UNDETECTABLE UNDER NORMAL OR ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT. THE IMAGE IS DEVELOPED BY RUBBING, FOR EXAMPLE, A METAL OBJECT OVER THE SURFACE OF SAID SUBSTRATE, CAUSING ABRADING OF THE OBJECT IN THE ABRASIVE AREAS AND "PRINTING" OF SAID IMAGE.

Abstract: ALIPHATIC POLYURETHANE MATRIX TRANSFER MEDIUM AND POROUS MAGNESIUM SILICATE FILLER A matrix transfer medium with the binder being an aliphatic polyester polyurethane. This is formed directly on an untensilized polyethylene terephthalate film substrate. Porous magnesium silicate in minor amounts as a filler beneficially controls ink flow at printing. Overall good performance as to both ribbon feed and printing is realized.

Abstract: An encapsulated liquid reactant precursor and a co-reactant therefor are supported on the under surface of a donor sheet that is placed over an untreated surface (i.e, devoid of reactant precursor and co-reactant) of a receptor sheet or other substrate. Upon pressure-effected rupture of the capsules, a substantial amount of both the reactant precursor and the co-reactant physically transfers to the untreated surface to provide, as a chemical reaction product, an essentially smudge-free, eradication-resistant, right-readable image on the untreated receptor surface. This donor transfer sheet and method are especially desirable where the receptor to be imaged is a data processing card or record on which a reactant and/or co-reactant coating could adversely affect processability through data processing equipment; or the receptor to be imaged has a rigid non-flat surface on which a conventional carbonless receptor coating is impractical; or where only a small area of the receptor is to be imaged.

Abstract: Corresponding images (an image and a mirror image thereof) are provided on adjacent surfaces of two sheets. An encapsulated liquid reactant precursor is supported on one of the surfaces and a co-reactant is coated on the other surface. The adhesion/cohesion characteristics of the co-reactant coating are so adjusted and selected that upon pressure-effected rupture of the particular capsules used, some of the co-reactant (as well as some precursor) physically transfer and the balance of each remains in situ and does not transfer. Substantially identical chemical reactions are thus produced concurrently on both adjacent surfaces to provide corresponding colored images thereon.
