Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for executing a byte code. SOLUTION: The byte code is received for execution and it is decided whether the byte code should be compiled. Once it is decided that a method should be compiled, the byte code is sent to a just-in-time compiler 210 in response. The byte code forms the method, which is sent to an interpreter 204 once it is decided that the method need not be compiled.
