Abstract:
A method, system, and program are provided for managing flexible events within an electronic calendar. A calendaring controller schedules fixed events requiring a fixed time slots and flexible events that are flexible for scheduling over a particular time period for a particular duration, wherein the particular time period is greater than the particular duration. The calendaring controller sets each flexible event at a particular time slot within the particular time period for the particular duration. Responsive to the calendaring controller detecting a request for a new event for an additional time slot overlapping the particular time slot, the calendaring controller repositions the flexible event to at least one other time slot of the particular duration during the particular time period to allow for scheduling the new event during the additional time slot.
Abstract:
A system and method for integrating multiple refresh functions inline with a visible refresh button control is provided. When a user wants to change a type of refresh mode due to the type of work being performed, a user selects the refresh setup drop down arrow key. A user has a refresh mode selection of manual, manual override, or auto mode. A user also has a preferences area to set screen refresh trigger thresholds for manual override and auto mode. For example, a user can set a trigger to wait until a task is completed before performing a screen refresh. A user is able to manually perform a screen refresh in override and auto mode by pressing the refresh button. Further disclosed are an information handling system and a computer program product each providing multiple refresh mode functionality.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a meeting negotiation system for scheduling events while preserving privacy through shared representation which separates a meeting negotiation and a meeting invitation from each other. SOLUTION: The negotiation system integrates all scheduling-related information such as times user can meet, locations etc. and reduces dependency on designations of times as free or busy by a potential meeting attendee. The negotiation system supports annotations and comments as a discussion mechanism and gives feedback to a meeting scheduler before the meeting invitation is issued. Possible times provided for the meeting are provided in the form of a bounded negotiation, and participants can select the best time for them to attend a meeting from the bounded negotiation. A meeting organizer finalizes the meeting time from responses provided by participants. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
User input is received to cause a search graphical user interface (GUI) element to move within a GUI having areas that each correspond to a content type. The given area over which the search GUI element has been moved is determined. The search GUI element is adapted so that a search performable via the search GUI element is restricted in scope to the content type of the given area. The GUI may be a web page of a web site. The search GUI element may be a search box. The area and/or the search GUI element may be graphically modified to provide visual feedback as to the content type of the given area to which the search is restricted in scope.
Abstract:
A method, system and computer program for the Interactive analysis of data objects within a display enables values of icons to be compared to a selected reference icon by changes in the shading of the icons relative to the reference icon. Similar shaded icons represent a similar value and differently shaded icons represent a different value compared to the selected reference icon. A key is provided to enable the differences in value to be judged and the key may be a spectrum of color about the reference value. Examples described include the comparative rating of restaurants where a restaurant 202j is selected and other icons 202 change shading according to their relative rating value. A legend 220 is provided which gives a key to the shading values. In order to carry out the processing the system includes a display constructor module and an object comparator module. Relational comparisons may be quickly changed by dragging the cursor 210 to different icons. Further examples relate to value comparison visualization for troubleshooting in network topologies where values relate to correlations of patterns and to the geographical display of national statistics.
