Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for managing communications between a remote communication manager and a set of communication managers within a related group, a data communication apparatus, and a computer program. SOLUTION: The communication manage group is accessible to a resource in common, and any communication manager within the group can recover a failure generated in another communication manager within the group. Concretely, the recovery of an inbound channel and outbound channel having the failure can be attained to improve the usability of data transmission. Synchronous information is preferably used for the recovery, so that the data is recovered to a state having matching property, and the recovery of the channel can be achieved without loss of data integrity.

Abstract: Provided are methods, apparatus and computer programs for monitoring operational data relating to a sequence of data processing operations in a network of data processing units. In response to specified boundaries for data gathering, operational data is selectively gathered into discrete data partitions for a desired time period, a desired set of processing nodes, and/or a desired set of process executions. A set of event listeners invoke operations of a data gatherer in response to events within a processing sequence and the data gatherer allocates operational data to different ones of a set of discrete logical data containers in response to notifications from the event listeners. The data collection is responsive to system events such as a collection interval expiry to end data collection for a first partition and start data collection for a second partition.

Abstract: A data communication apparatus for managing communications between a remote communication manager and a set of communications managers in an associated group comprises a group of communication managers which have shared access to resources which enable any communication manager in the group to recover from failures experienced by another communication manager in the group. The recovery uses synchronization information to resume transmission of the data from the point at which the transmission was terminated due to the failure, as opposed to transmitting the data in its entirety.
