Abstract: A method comprising the steps ofidentifying incoming sequences (40) of SQL statements (50) to the database system (18) (step 112);reducing the incoming sequences (40) of SQL statements (50) to their basic structures (60) (step 114);defining transaction identifiers (TI) based on the basic structures (60) of the sequences (40) (step 116). In a preferred embodiment of the invention, during the reduction step (114) statements (50) of the incoming sequence (40) are copied into the basic structure occurring (60) in the order of their first occurrence within the sequence (40), and all repeated occurrences of these SQL statements (50) are ignored.
