    Abstract: Techniques for identifying and selecting equivalent sets of agents with defined capabilities to perform certain actions are disclosed. Determining agents to gather information for a storage area network fabric may be performed through the use of fabric discovery operations which identify agents capable of performing various actions within the fabric. From the determined capabilities of the agents, a dynamic capability grid may be populated to assist with the generation of a list of equivalent subsets to perform the various actions. The most efficient set of agents from each equivalent subset may then be selected to perform actions, with other sets of agents in the equivalent subset available as secondary choices in case of an unexpected failure. For example, a fabric probe may be executed in a storage area network using discovered agents from a list of equivalent subsets to most efficiently accomplish network operations such as zoning and topology.

    Abstract: This invention is about a method, system, and program for processing requests transmitted using a first communication directed to an application that uses a second communication protocol. A server (2) receives a request from a client (4) over a network (6) in a first communication protocol. A determination is made at the Listener Port (16) as to whether the request includes an identifier of an application indicated in a data structure. A socket (20) is processed that enables communication between the application (10) identified by the identifier in response to determining that the identifier included in the request is indicated in the data structure. The socket (20) is provided to the application (10) associated with the requested resource to enable the application (10) to communicate with the client over the network using a second communication protocol .

    Abstract: Esta invencion se trata de un metodo, sistema y programa para procesar solicitudes transmitidas usando un primer protocolo de comunicacion dirigido a una aplicacion que usa un segundo protocolo de comunicacion. Un servidor (2) recibe una solicitud de un cliente (4) sobre una red (6) en un primer protocolo de comunicacion. Se hace una determinacion en el Puerto de Escucha (16) como si la solicitud incluyera un identificador de una aplicacion indicada en una estructura de datos. Un enchufe (20) es procesado para permitir la comunicacion entre la aplicacion (10) identificada por el identificador en respuesta a determinar que el identificador incluido en la solicitud esta indicado en la estructura de datos. El enchufe (20) es provisto a la aplicacion (10) asociado con el recurso solicitado para permitir a la aplicacion (10) comunicarse con el cliente en la red usando un segundo protocolo de comunicacion.
