Abstract: A double-lever hammer operating according to the inertia principle--at the end of a first lever operated as an armature lies the fulcrum of a second lever, and when the first lever hits a stop, the inertial forces encountered cause the upper lever arm of the second lever, carrying the print head, to be moved increased velocity in the direction of the record carrier; and a double-lever hammer operating operated as an armature lies the fulcrum of a second lever, and when the first lever hits a stop, the second lever is of the lever ratio, the upper lever arm of the second lever, carrying the print head, moves at increased velocity in the direction of the record carrier.

Abstract: IMPACT PRINTER A type chain printer with hammer unit and printing chain comprises an interposer providing different character densities. The interposer consists of several interposer elements, each interposer element having one hammer and one printing position associated thereto. An interposer comb is provided for miniprint high density where each hammer has an associated interposer element and there is an interposer comb for standard print lower density where not all the hammers have an associated interposer element. Different character densities can be achieved with one and the same printing chain, or by using exchangeable printing chains of different character densities.

Abstract: Print hammer actuating apparatus of the double lever type in which one lever is moved in response to an input force and carries a pivotally mounted second lever which provides the output force through either an "inertia" principle or "ratio" principle. The angular velocity of the first lever is multiplied through those principles to provide greater impact velocity at the output of the second lever without requiring an increase of the input energy.
