Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer readable storage medium on which a computer program is recorded for making a computer carry out the control of the power of a laser beam used in texturing a disk. SOLUTION: An optical system for providing textured spots in an annular portion of the disk includes a laser directed at a beamsplitter to split the laser beam into two beams having approximately power. The two beams are directed along parallel paths through a power control optics block to expose simultaneously both sides of the disk to be textured. The power level of each of these two beams is controlled by a program which operates in a teach mode to develop look up table describing laser beam power as a function of a signal driving an attenuator, in a set point mode setting this driving signal to provide a certain laser beam power, in a run mode controlling this power through a feedback loop, and in a display mode showing laser beam power as a function of time.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a texture on a laser disk, and to minimize friction action by adjusting a driving signal to a variable attenuator for the laser beam and controlling the output level of the laser beam. SOLUTION: When a disk drive device is operating, the disk 10 rotates about a center hole 14, and a stratiform air flow is formed, and a magnetic head 12 is slightly separated from the adjacent disk surface 16 for being maintained. Before this rotation stops, the magnetic head 12 is driven near a toroidal area 18 where the surface of disk 10 is textured. When the rotation of this disk is reduced in speed to stop, the textured surface of this area 18 minimizes an influence by friction and static friction generated between the surface of toroidal area 18 and the adjacent surface of the magnetic head 12.
