Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for accurately identifying one or a plurality of faulty network components that caused one or a plurality of failures encountered during a network exploration. SOLUTION: A network exploration is performed to initialize one or a plurality of network elements. This method includes a step for sending a message to a child network element to explore the child network element, a step for sending a message to a parent network element of the child network element, when the child network element is considered unresponsive, a step for determining that a link between the parent network element and the child network element is faulty, when the parent network element is responsive and the child network element is considered unresponsive, and a step for selecting a parent of the parent network element and sending a message to the parent, when the parent network element is considered unresponsive.
