Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for transacting future production capacity by an electronic network auction. SOLUTION: In an industry having a production process for regulating production capacity, a method, a device and a computer program product for auctioning the production capacity on-line in regard to a product range by using an electronic network. The production process includes at least on step about product production and at least one input in each production step. The production capacity is placed on sale through the electronic network by using an auction mechanism. The product range of a certain step depends upon the quality and quantity of the input of the step. At least one bidding is received from one or more bidders through the electronic network in regard of a certain product from the product range obtained from an optional production process regardless of a set of previously bid products and corresponding production distribution management or scheduling requirements, and at least one successful bid is made in regard to the product. The product is merchandise, a service or a combination of the merchandise and service.
