    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an improved computer system network by allowing multiple hosts to be present in a network based upon a USB and allowing a networking hub to include integrated virtual network adapters adaptive to communication among the hosts. SOLUTION: The networking hub 200 includes subhubs 202, 204 and 206, which have relative virtual network adapters(VNA) 210, 212 and 214. The subhubs 202, 204 and 206 are connected to a single up-stream host by connections 220, 222 and 224 and connected to USB devices on ports 230, 232 and 234. The VNAs 210, 212 and 214 of the respective subhubs 202, 204 and 206 are interconnected through local interconnection 240 to enable communication among the subhubs 202, 204 and 206, and the communication is carried out through the VNA system to enable the hosts to communicate with one another.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing a risk of a system failure which is caused by memory exhaustion in a system where memory compression is used. SOLUTION: A memory exhaustion state is processed in a data processing system provided with first and second regions of a physical memory and is detected while the second region is mirroring at least part of the first region. Memory mirroring is at least partially deactivated, and at least part of the second region is used for augmenting the first region to eliminate the memory exhaustion state. In an illustrative embodiment, the memory exhaustion state occurs when the data processing system compressed real memory into the first region of the physical memory and the first area is not provided with a sufficient available capacity in order to accommodate a present request for real memory. The memory exhaustion state is eliminated by compressing at least part of the real memory in the second region.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To excellently perform a hot plug of a processor by performing an initial setting routine to a processor in a processor subsystem. SOLUTION: After a power is appropriately supplied to a processor subsystem A and its clock generation source is stabilized, a service processor performs initial setting step to a processor card 11a before an FET switch 80a is enabled, and the processor card 11a is prepared so that it is connected to a front side bus. Moreover, the service processor notifies an operating system of occurrence of hot plug phenomenon, and all the processor operations are temporarily interrupted. Finally, the service processor issues a soft reset to all the processors on the front side bus, simultaneously enables the FET switch 80a, and starts driving while all the processors are in the same cycle.
