Abstract: A data synchronizer for synchronizing source data from a source system with a clock and/or clocks (20) from a sink system including a source counter (38), a buffer (34), a sink counter (40) and a controller (42). The source data is placed in consecutive buffer positions under the control of the source counter (38), and the sink counter (40) is made to "follow" the source counter (38) and identifies the location in the buffer whereat output data is extracted. The controller (42) monitors the counters and generates control signals (26, 30) representative of the state of the buffer.
