    Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for authorizing execution of an application on the data processing system. A request is received to execute the application, wherein the request originates from a remote data processing system and wherein the request includes a digital certificate and the application. The digital certificate is verified in response to receiving the request. Responsive to verifying the digital certificate, a digital digest is calculated for the application to form a calculated digital digest. The calculated digital digest is compared with a set of digital digests from a trusted source. The application is executed if a match between the calculated digital digest and set of digital digests occurs.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To instruct the generation of a virtual pointing device which can be inactivated by making an instruction so that the virtual pointing device exits from an inactive state and the behavior of a hand on the virtual pointing device calls a command. SOLUTION: A virtual pointing device is converted from an obvious inactive state into a hidden inactive state. After a user-specified time is elapsed, this time delay is considered to mean that the virtual pointing device is not needed any more. Once the arrangement of a hand on a touch screen 200 is detected, the virtual pointing device is put back from a hidden inactive state and drawn below a hand. Thus, an instruction is so made that the virtual pointing device is made to exit from the inactive state and the behavior of the hand on the virtual pointing device calls a command.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for correcting media data having defects by using a network.
    SOLUTION: A media apparatus includes a processor, a memory, a network adaptor, a detachable media interface, an error correction module, and a communication module. A network apparatus allows the media apparatus to connect to the network and a server. The detachable media interface allows the user to link detachable media to the media apparatus. After the user inserts the detachable media into the detachable media interface, the processor and the error correction module check the detachable media about a physical error. When the number of detected errors exceeds a threshold value, the media apparatus makes an inquiry about error correction data with respect to the server via the network adaptor and the communication module. The error correction data can be used in the media apparatus, and data stored in the detachable media can be successfully processed.

    SOLUTION: After an e-mail message is prepared by a sender, the message can be stored in a computing system at the time of its transmission to recipients. Generally, the e-mail message contains a list of destination recipients. Then, a notification message, instead of an actual e-mail message, is generated and transmitted to the recipients (and to the sender). The notification message allows the recipients to automatically access the stored e-mail message. When the sender desires to cancel the message, the user can access the message and modify the list of recipients to exclude any number of recipients, as well as modify the text of the e-mail message. Any recipient whose e-mail address has been excluded will no longer be allowed to access the e-mail message.
