    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve an electric connector for a motor of a hard disk drive by making an elastic contactor on one end of a connector main body interact to a contactor on a printed circuit board and making its another and interact to an edge in a base plate and connecting them in compression to the contactor on a spindle motor.
    SOLUTION: The connector 11 is fixed with a screw 45 extending to a boss 46 on the base plate 47 through a central hole 25 in a front part 17, and is extended to a lipped opening 49 on the base plate 47 to be engaged therewith. This opening 49 receives tightly a plastic main body 15 to lock the connector 11 so as to prevent excess movement. The printed circuit board 43 is provided with a contact pad 51 on an internal surface imparted for engaging with a contact point 33 on a front spring 31 when it is fixed to the base plate 47 with the screw 45. Then, a tab 27 interacts with the machined structure part 59 of the base plate 47 to impart force required for compressing the rear spring 35 of the rear end of the connector 11.

    Abstract: A mounting interface for a spindle motor allows the optimization of the spindle dynamics. The mounting interface provides a steadfast relationship between a motor and a baseplate, wherein the mounting interface includes at least three surface points forming a single plane acting as a common boundary between the motor and the baseplate. The three surface points may be pads, and the pads may be coupled to the baseplate or to the mount flange. The three surface points provide reduced contact area between the mount flange and the baseplate, and the reduced contact area lowers the rigidity of the mount flange and the resonant frequencies. The surface area of the pads and the material of the pads is chosen to reduce acoustical noise. In addition, a damping ring may be provided for dissipating distortion energy between the motor, baseplate and/or mount flange.
