    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head wherein the leakage of a magnetic flux passed through a surface gap is extremely small, and its manufacturing method, and a hard disk drive having the magnetic head loaded. SOLUTION: A magnetic head 38 has a first magnetic pole composed of double layers. This first magnetic pole has a first magnetic pole layer formed on a reading head element, and a second magnetic pole layer formed on the first magnetic pole layer. The second magnetic pole layer is formed to be a pattern so as to have an opening formed in the vicinity of the upper end position of a substantially formed second magnetic pole tip part 76. A surface gap distance between the upper end of a second magnetic pole tip part and the first magnetic pole layer 68 is increased, and the leakage of a magnetic flux crossing a surface gap 72 is reduced. According to one embodiment, the second magnetic pole layer, is provided as a single integrated formed layer having an opening. According to another embodiment, the second magnetic pole layer is formed as two independent parts having openings.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously realize data writing and reading functions by causing an electromagnetic field shield element arranged between writing and reading head elements to shield the reading head from an electromagnetic field energy generated by the writing head. SOLUTION: After depositing an insulating layer, an electromagnetic field shield element 44 is deposited on the outer side of a writing head. This shield element 44 provides shielding to a circular inductive coil 120, is formed to be circular, and at least equal in diameter of the inductive coil 120. The shield 44 is disposed between the coil 120 and an MR reading head, and thereby the MR reading head is shielded from the electromagnetic field of the inductive coil 120. Even when the diameter of the shield is smaller than that of the inductive coil, an effective shielding effect is still maintained. Further, even when the shape of the inductive coil is other than circular, the shield is preferably identical to the shape of the inductive coil.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a read/write head which writes information to a magnetic medium and reads the information from the magnetic medium. SOLUTION: The read/write head 10 includes a write head which writes the information on the magnetic medium, a read head which reads the information from the magnetic medium and an electric circuit element 54 which is disposed adjacent to the read head and acts to generate an electromagnetic field of a direction approximately opposite to the direction of the electromagnetic field generated by the write head in the read head. A method for manipulating the read/write head 10 of a hard disk drive includes a step of writing data onto a hard disk and simultaneously a step of generating the electromagnetic field of the direction opposite to the electromagnetic field generated by the write head in the writing head.
