Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape storage device capable of dissolving or reducing complicated tape travel control or head position movement control.SOLUTION: In the tape storage device including a R/W head, a data buffer, a motor driver controlling a motor for travelling a tape, and a controller, the controller performs control for: (i) writing the data stored in a buffer, subsequently writing an interval marker without interruption after the buffer is empty of the stored data, and writing next data subsequently to the interval marker when the next data is stored in the buffer in first round writing in a single track in the tape, (ii) writing data stored in the buffer in an area of the interval marker in second round writing in the single track, and (iii) writing data stored in the buffer in the area in which no data is written of the interval marker in third and subsequent rounds writing in the single track, while making the tape travel at a constant speed.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time needed to remove duplication of a file without using file data.SOLUTION: A WWUID which is newly given as a file is created or updated and taken over when the file is duplicated is given to each file. In a backup device 20, a file name acceptance part 21 receives the file name of a file to be backed up, a WWUID reception part 22 receives a WWUID corresponding to the file name, and a WWUID retrieval part 23 retrieves the same WWUID from management information on backup on the previous day at a backup destination; only when the retrieval ends in failure, a file operation instruction part 26 instructs the file to be backed up to be stored at the backup destination. Then, an Rcnt update instruction part 24 instructs the number of times of reference to the WWUID at the backup destination to be updated and a second management information update instruction part 25 instructs management information on backup on the day to be updated.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Systems and methods for managing a virtual tape library (VTL) domain capable of being coupled to a host are provided. One system includes a plurality of VTL nodes configured to store multiple scratch erased volumes. Each VTL node comprises a processor configured to perform at least a portion of the below method. One method includes receiving a request from the host to de-mount a volume in one of the plurality of VTL nodes, transferring the volume to a scratch category in response to receiving the request, erasing data in the volume and categorizing the volume as a scratch erased volume, and providing ownership of the scratch erased volume to a VTL node in the plurality of VTL nodes based on pre-determined criteria for the plurality of VTL nodes. Also provided are computer storage mediums including computer code for performing the above method.
