Abstract: A method indexed indirect addresung is provided with matched pairs of prefix bvtes (PR) and suffix values (IM1, IM2) which can surround any instruction. The method consists in fetching a prefix code (PR) in the instruction stream, fetching a word in main memory at an address specified by the contents of an index register modified in accordance with a suffix value (IM0), and interpreting this word as an address to be modified by a suffix value (IM1) if a prefix code (PR) has been detected. These steps are repeated for each prefix code (PR) detected in the instruction stream.
