Abstract: Bereitgestellt werden ein Verfahren und System zum Bereitstellen von Anweisungen während einer Fernbetrachtung einer Benutzerschnittstelle. Das auf einem Host-Computersystem durchgeführte Verfahren enthält: ein Erfassen eines Bilds von einer oder mehreren Anwendungsbenutzerschnittstellen, wie sie auf einem Host-Computersystem angezeigt werden; und ein Serialisieren von Daten einer jeden Anwendungsbenutzerschnittstelle, um ein Abbild einer jeden Fensterklasse sowie von Containern und/oder Steuerelementen der Fensterklasse bereitzustellen, wobei ein Container Attribute und untergeordnete Steuerelemente aufweist. Das erfasste Bild und das Abbild werden an ein entfernt angeordnetes Computersystem übertragen; und Steuerelement-Eingabeanweisungen werden von einem entfernt angeordneten Computersystem zu empfangen, um eine Anweisung für eine Interaktion mit einem Steuerelement zu erteilen.

Abstract: Instructions for a mainframe system are constructed by a client device by embedding an interpreted language program 121 in a job control language instruction 120, preferably by means of user input 112 and a suitable template 111. The nested instruction set 122 is sent 502 to the mainframe system 130, where it copies the interpreted language program to a temporary dataset/cache 142 and executes the commands within that program whilst it is in the temporary dataset. The mainframe may delete the cache once the program has been executed. The embedding of instructions allows any client device to access and provide commands to the mainframe without complex emulation protocols or the use of server-stored programs.

Abstract: In a Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) network using a File Transfer Protocol in either binary mode (eg. XML or GIF files) or text mode (eg. ASCII data), the mode is determined automatically by comparing a portion of transfer file bytes to a character set of a location, language or operating system and downloading the file as text 107 if there is a correct match or binary 103 if not. The text may be a code page, warnings of missing characters may be given and the downloaded file may be edited or made read-only.
