Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dynamic resource allocating method for allowing a host server to adjust a plurality of virtual machines by sensing a change in a resource request of the respective virtual machines in real time. SOLUTION: This method includes steps of: monitoring activity of the application in the respective virtual machines executed on the host server, determining priorities of the application in the respective virtual machines based of the activity of the monitored application, setting the priorities of the respective virtual machines based on the determined priority of the application in the respective virtual machines, and dynamically adjusting resource allocation to the respective virtual machines by the host server based on the priorities of the respective virtual machines. Resources of the host server can be dynamically allocated to the respective virtual machines according to a real-time resource request of the operation application of the respective virtual machines. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resynchronization method for minimizing downtime in an appliance-based business continuance architecture. SOLUTION: At least one primary data storage, a primary host, and an intercept agent intercepting data requests of the primary host, and collecting information associated with the data requests are included. A business continuance appliance is provided for communicating with the primary host and a remote backup site. The appliance receives the information associated with the intercepted data requests from the intercept agent. A local cache is included within the business continuance appliance. The local cache maintains copies of the primary data storage according to the received information. The remote site is provided with the intercepted data requests via the business continuance appliance, and it maintains a backup of the primary storage. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for file-level replication between two or more non-symmetric storage sites. SOLUTION: The apparatus and method for replicating one or more files between non-symmetric storage systems are disclosed. The method supplies a first storage system comprising a first configuration, a first volume, a first file system, and a first replication appliance comprising first replication appliance memory. The method further supplies a second storage system comprising a second configuration, a second volume, a second file system, and a second replication appliance comprising second replication appliance memory, where the first configuration differs from the second configuration. The first storage system receives a dataset, and writes that dataset to the first volume as a first file. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
