Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for storing and retrieving text strings fo r use in creating and editing documents. The disclosure provides an edit system that includes a function storing and retrieving frequently-used text strings, combined with producing context-dependent alternatives to frequently-used text strings and generatin g context-sensitive document structures, in which a live parser parses the document to detect tokens relating to the text strings and to modify the text as require d by the context in the document. Also disclosed is a computer-readable medium including computer program code that implements a system and method for storing and retrieving frequently-used text strings in conjunction with a live parser. Strings may be nested and may include commands and references to other strings.

Abstract: A dynamic application data monitoring architecture may include data collecto r, data provider, and widget software components. Data collectors convert applicatio n data from a native format into data instances having a logical hierarchical structure conforming to a schema which may be an XML schema. Data providers receive data instances fro m associated data collectors or other data providers and generate other data instances having a different logical hierarchical structure conforming to another sche ma which may be presentation-centric and may define features of a graphical data display mechanism (e.g. a line graph). The data provider may employ an external transform (e.g . an XSLT). Widgets receive logical, presentation-centric data instances from an associated data source (typically a data provider) and generate therefrom a displayable graphical representation of the received data according to an operative graphical data display mechanism.
