Abstract: There is provided herein an inorganic flame retarded particulate having a surface coating, which surface coating is the reaction product of the inorganic flame retardant and boric acid, and stearic acid. There is also provided a flame retarded polyolefin polymer composition comprising a thermoplastic polyolefin polymer and the inorganic flame retarded particulate. There is further provided a method for making a flame retarded polyolefin polymer composition as well as wire and cable sheathing containing the same.
