    Abstract: There is provided herein a polyolefin polymer composition comprising a polyolefin polymer and a metal salt of alkyl alkylphosphonic acid of general formula (I) where X is a metal and R 1 and R 2 are the same or different linear or branched alkyls containing from one to about twelve carbon atoms, n is equal to the valency of the metal X which is in the range of from 1 to 4. There is also provided a method for making a polyolefin polymer composition comprising contacting at least one polyolefin polymer with at least one metal salt of alkyl alkylphosphonic acid and heating the mixture of polyolefin polymer and at least one metal salt of alkyl alkylphosphonic acid to above the melting temperature of the polyolefin polymer.
