Abstract:
A coating composition for imparting a hydrophobic film on a target surface is provided that includes an oil of a silicone oil or a fluoropolymer oil or a combination thereof, a resin, and a dry lubricant. A solvent is present to form a solution of the oil and resin. A coating is imparted to an applicator that in turn can transfer the coating as a hydrophobic film. The coating composition is stable and able to impart hydrophobic film even after storage for several weeks at elevated temperature. The coating composition does so through the exclusion of synthetic waxes especially including silicone waxes. A kit is also provided that includes a wiper blade having the above coating composition applied along with instructions for the securement of the wiper blade to a vehicle to impart the hydrophobic film to a vehicle windshield contacted by the wiper blade.

A coating composition for imparting a hydrophobic film on a target surface is provided that includes a quaternary ammonium silane salt, a solvent, and a solid lubricant. The composition is stable and able to impart a hydrophobic film even after storage for several weeks at elevated temperature. The composition is non-absorbable or non-penetrative into an elastomeric applicator onto which the water repellant (WR) coating is applied, preserving the capability of transferring the WR ingredients of the coating from the wiper blade insert to a windshield on which the wiper blade insert is operated, even after the coated wiper blade insert has been aged for an extended period of time in storage. A wiper blade insert is also provided having the above composition applied and instructions for the securement of the wiper blade to a vehicle to impart the hydrophobic film to a vehicle windshield contacted by the wiper blade insert.

A process of protecting a vehicle wheel or hub is provided that includes the application to the vehicle wheel or hub of a composition. The composition includes a water soluble polymeric film former, a plasticizer and a carrier that solubilizes or suspends the film former and the plasticizer. After allowing the composition to dry to form a coating, the coating is exposed to debris contaminants. The coating and the debris contaminants are then removed. The coating is readily removed by water washing alone.

Una composición de recubrimiento para impartir repelencia al agua desde un elemento de goma de una escobilla de limpiaparabrisas de un automóvil a un parabrisas, el recubrimiento en el parabrisas tiene un ángulo de contacto de las gotas de agua mayor o igual a 80° medido por ASTM C813; en donde la composición comprende: i) un aceite que se selecciona de un grupo que consiste de un aceite de silicona, un aceite de fluoropolímero o una de sus combinaciones; ii) una resina de silicona soluble en el aceite anterior; y iii) un lubricante de partículas; en donde la composición está libre de una cera de silicona, un agente de curado y un catalizador de curado que actúa para reticular dicho aceite o dicha resina.
