Abstract:
A belt-driven tape cartridge with reduced tape pack deformation and more spatially homogeneous tape tension. The belt-driven tape cartridge has a supply side tape hub and a winding side tape hub both rotatably mounted on the base. The tape is wound around the hubs to form a tape pack about each hub. A drive roller is rotatably mounted on the base. First and second rollers are rotatably mounted on the base. The drive belt is engaged on the drive roller, the tape pack on the supply side tape hub, the first and second corner rollers, and the tape pack on the winding side tape hub. The pack belt is engaged between the first and second corner rollers and disposed on the inner side of the drive belt. The drive belt has a width less than a width of the pack belt such that tape pack deformation is reduced and the tape tension is more spatially homogeneous.
Abstract:
Certain propenenitrile compounds have been found to function as antifoggants and serve to improve the initial minimum density of black-and-white photo-thermographic and thermographic elements.
Abstract:
An apparatus for removing back-plated developer from a development device includes a shaft (74), cleaning media (76) mounted about the outer surface of the shaft, means for loading the cleaning media against the development device, and means for rotating the shaft and the cleaning media, wherein the cleaning media removes back-plated developer from the development device. The cleaning media may include a fiber material having a plurality of flow paths. A fluid flow means can be provided to deliver a cleaning liquid to the cleaning media to flush at least a portion of the removed back-plated developer from the cleaning media.
Abstract:
Acrylonitrile compounds are useful as co-developers when used in combination with hindered phenol developers to produce high contrast black-and-white photothermographic and thermographic elements. Acrylonitrile compounds are also useful as co-developers when used in combination with (i) hindered phenol developers, and (ii) trityl hydrazide and/or formyl-phenyl hydrazine co-developers, to produce ultra-high contrast black-and-white photothermographic and thermographic elements. The photothermographic and thermographic elements may be used as a photomask in a process where there is a subsequent exposure of an ultraviolet or short wavelength visible radiation-sensitive imageable medium.
Abstract:
A cartridge for a disc-shaped recording medium, the cartridge including a cover shell (50) and a base shell (80) which house a flexible, magnetic recording medium therebetween. A movable shutter (54) is provided along a front edge (60) of the cartridge for covering, when in the closed position, an opening (56, 86) in each shell which allows a read/write head to access the recording medium. The shutter is windowless and has triangle-shaped portions (58, 88) which cover the read/write head access openings. The shutter includes a raised rib (114, 144) along its periphery and has a rounded corner (72, 102). A raised rib (78, 108) may also be provided on the cartridge shell adjacent the read/write head access opening to prevent debris particles from entering the interior of the cartridge via the head access opening (58, 88). The shutter is reinforced to prevent bending and has a rounded corner (72, 102) to minimize the chance that the shutter corner will become snagged on some other object, such as loose clothing.
Abstract:
Using corner roller assemblies with different drag force profiles provides improved control in establishing tape tension characteristics of a belt-driven tape cartridge. The belt-driven tape cartridge has a tape tension profile and is of the type comprising first and second corner roller assemblies defining a portion of a drive-belt path of a cartridge. The first corner roller assembly has a first drag force profile and includes a first shaft and a first rotating member comprising a first bore. The first rotating member is rotatably mounted on the first shaft, such that the first shaft is disposed in the first bore. The second corner roller assembly has a second drag force profile and includes a second shaft and a second rotating member comprising a second bore. The second rotating member is rotatably mounted on the second shaft, such that the second shaft is disposed in the second bore. The first and second corner roller assemblies are configured such that the drag force profile of the first corner roller assembly is preselected to be different from the drag force profile of the second corner roller assembly in order to totally establish the tape tension of the cartridge.
Abstract:
A thermal processor (10, 80) and method for using the same which is particularly useful for developing a sheet of imaging material (26), such as photothermographic film. The thermal processor (10, 80) includes means for heating the imaging material (26) to develop the image in the imaging material (26). The thermal processor (10, 80) also includes a fog reduction system which removes a gaseous by-product (90) emitted from the imaging material (26) which can cause fogging of the image as the image is thermally developed in the imaging material (26).
Abstract:
A circuit arrangement (20) modulates a disc-recording control signal (38) as a function of data collected before and after an input data pulse (22) and of the index signal (26) of the recording disc. The circuit arrangement includes a tracking circuit, a timing control circuit, a programmable digital circuit, and a data output circuit (42). The tracking circuit monitors the index signal (67) and provides a disc-location signal indicative of the disc recording zone. The timing control circuit clocks in the data signal and, in response thereto, generates a delayed pulse edge control signal (40). The programmable digital circuit responds to the disc-location signal and the timing control circuit by generating a level-setting digital signal and a delay setting digital signal for the timing control circuit. These signals are preselected as a function of the disc recording zone and the data in the input data signal. The data output circuit responds to the level-setting digital signal and the pulse edge control signal by generating the disc-recording control signal.
Abstract:
The present invention describes a process for assembling optical elements, including two sided optical disks comprising the steps of: a) providing a first element and a second single-side optical element; b) applying a curable adhesive composition to one surface of at least the second single-side element; c) initiating a cure of said adhesive composition; and d) placing said adhesive composition in which cure has been initiated into contact with a surface of the first element. The present invention also includes the adhesive composition used in the method above. That adhesive composition is preferably a high tack latex/rubber curable composition.
Abstract:
A guidance system for tape in a tape cartridge includes two corner guides and an optional third guide. The two corner guides may be angled or tapered to produce a bow or slope in the tape, and to steer the tape. If provided, the third guide is readily adjustable during manufacture to an exact predetermined distance from the two corner guides, thereby avoiding problems due to build-up of manufacturing tolerances. A method of constructing such a system provides an interference fit ferrule on a pin or a nail-like pin as the third guide, such that the position of the ferrule or nail head of the pin can be adjusted to the exact position desired during manufacture.
