Abstract: Processing unit (100) has a processing device (110). A bi-directional communication interface attaches processing unit with processing device. Many holding locations (120) are provided for attachment of sensor or actuator on the processing device. Sensor or actuator detection unit (115) determines whether the sensor or actuator is attached to the holding locations. The processing device is arranged for determining the distance of the processing unit from a reference position by exchanging meseges with another connected processing unit. Each messege contains information which indicates the distance of the message sending processing device or messege receiving processing device from the refrence position. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) Method for initialization of processing unit; and (B) Processor assembly.
