Abstract: An apparatus and method of measuring the retroreflection of a road sign comprising: illuminating a road sign by an infra-red light source and by a visible light source; capturing an image incorporating the road sign by each of a plurality of cameras; isolating the image of the road sign from each of the captured images; processing the isolated images to obtain a plurality of retroreflection parameters; and calculating the retroreflection of the road sign based on the retroreflection parameters.

Abstract: The invention provides a method and system (1) for multiline retroreflection measurement of road markings comprising a light source (5) adapted to illuminate the road markings; a first camera (2) adapted to measure the luminance of the road markings; a second camera (3) adapted to make geometrical measurements of the road markings in combination with the first camera; and means for estimating the location of the measured road markings with respect to the first (2) or second camera (3).
