Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To upgrade an airlink in a wireless system or a network. SOLUTION: An advanced base station (ABS) transmits a super frame header (SFH) indicating a connection with a legacy network, and an advanced mobile station (AMS) transmits a range request (RNG-REQ) message indicating that the AMS recognizes from the SFH that the ABS is connected to a legacy access network. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques regarding display of neighboring base stations. SOLUTION: A base station generates and wirelessly transmits a message that indicates a plurality of neighboring base stations. This message may include an indicator having one or more wildcard values. Through the employment of such wildcard values, the indicator may provide information corresponding to the plurality of neighboring base stations. The indicator may indicate a plurality of base station identifiers (BSIDs). The indicator may also indicate a plurality of preamble indices. The indicator may also indicate a plurality of carrier frequencies. Through the employment of such techniques, overhead can be saved without causing ambiguity in mobility management. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method related to a distributed control relay architecture for wireless relay. SOLUTION: An advanced mobile station (AMS) includes a transmission/reception means to communicate with an ASN via an advanced relay station (ARS) with an R6 interface between the ARS and an access service network gateway (GW). The AMS performs initial ranging by interfacing with the ARS, receives a station identifier (STID) allocated to the AMS by the ARS, receives flow identifier allocation from the ARS, and is calibrated to receive a control process message of a control process performed by the ARS from the ARS. Abstract:
Network entry by an advanced base station (ABS) is initiated by: determining if the ABS is connected to a legacy network 602; synchronising with an advanced mobile station (AMS) 604; generating a super frame header (SFH) with a network configuration bit 606 wherein the configuration bit indicates if the ABS is connected to a legacy access network; transmitting the SFH to the AMS 608; and, receiving a range request (RNG-REQ) message from the AMS 610, wherein the RNG-REQ message includes a legacy access service network (ASN) bit to indicate that the AMS is aware the ABS is connected to the legacy access network. Also disclosed is an Advance Mobile Station (AMS) configured to receive a SFH from an ABS 506 and detect if a bit in the SFH 508 indicates that the ABS is connected to a legacy access network 510. A method of employing a legacy adapter (410, figure 4) for upgrading an air link in a wireless system is also described.
Abstract:
An advanced relay station 110 (ARS) configured to interface with an advanced mobile station 120 (AMS) to perform initial ranging, to transmit a flow identifier assigned by the (ARS) to the (AMS) and to transmit a station identifier (STID) assigned by the (ARS) to the (AMS). The ARS can transmit the STID to an advanced base station 105 (ABS). The AMS may also execute capability negotiation, authentication key agreements and registration procedures with the ARS. Further control operations which may be performed by the advanced relay station are handover, security, sleep and idle control operations. The claims relate to an advanced mobile station, a method of wireless networking and an advanced relay station.
