Abstract:
A method and a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) (600), including a universal subscriber identity module (USIM) (625), for identifying a closed subscriber group (CSG) cell are disclosed. The WTRU (600) receives a broadcast from a cell including a cell identifier (ID). If the cell ID is associated with a CSG cell, the WTRU (600) determines whether the CSG ID is programmed in the USIM (625). The cell broadcast may include a single bit information element (IE) indicating that the cell is a CSG cell. If the cell ID is a CSG ID, the cell ID may further include a plurality of fields which indicate at least one of a country, a region, an operator, and a home evolved Node-B (HeNB) number. The cell broadcast may further include a bit indicating whether the CSG cell is public or private. The cell broadcast may further include a bit indicating that emergency calls are allowed from all users.
Abstract:
A method for radio resource control (RRC) messaging. The messaging includes transmitting a RRC message upon partial completion of message transmission. The RRC message further comprises an information element (IE) that represents a failed or partially failed condition.
Abstract:
Security context transfer and ROHC context transfer to enable secure and efficient mobile device handoff is facilitated by the introduction of new information elements to the UL Allocation message or separate downlink (DL) physical channel, the use of reverse tunneling during hand off (HO) to provide the User Equipment (UE) with new security parameters, the generation of multiple key sets and automated or context based triggering of the Security Mode Command.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device is configured as an in-home node-B (H(e)NB). The H(e)NB is configured to perform a locking function to control modification of carrier and user controlled parameters, and also configured to detect a change in location.
Abstract:
A method for assigning a tracking area (TA) is disclosed. A mobility state of a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is determined and the TA is assigned based on the determined mobility state. Also disclosed is a method for accessing a closed subscriber group (CSG) TA. A CSG TA identifier is received at a WTRU and is stored. A CSG TA broadcast is received and the broadcast CSG TA is accessed if an identifier of the broadcast CSG TA matches the stored CSG TA identifier. Also disclosed is a method for changing a mobility state of- a WTRU. A current mobility state of the WTRU is determined and a predetermined metric of the WTRU is examined. The predetermined metric is evaluated to determine if the metric has crossed a threshold and the mobility state is changed based on the evaluated metric.

Abstract:
A method and apparatus for transport format combination restriction in a high speed downlink packet access (HSDPA) system. An enhanced transport format combination (E-TFC) table is split into sub-tables. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) selects one of the sub-tables and a window within the selected sub-table to search. The WTRU then determines whether or not a first element in the search window is blocked. If the first element in the search window is blocked, then the WTRU assumes that all of the elements in the selected sub-table are blocked. If the first element in the search window is not blocked, the WTRU then determines whether a last element in the search window is blocked. If the last element is not blocked, the WTRU assumes that all elements smaller than or equal to the last element are not blocked, and all elements greater than the last element are blocked. If the last element is blocked, the size of the search window is reduced until it is determined that the last element is not blocked.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for providing and utilizing radio link control (RLC) and medium access control (MAC) packet delivery notification are disclosed. A MAC entity tracks a delivery status of a MAC protocol data unit (PDU) and sends MAC service data unit (SDU) delivery notification to an RLC entity and/or an upper layer upon occurrence of a triggering event. The triggering event may be expiration of a timer, a packet discard decision, MAC reset, MAC re-establishment, or a request from the upper layer. The RLC entity may also track a delivery status of an RLC service data unit (SDU) and send RLC delivery notification to the upper layer. An upper layer including a header compression entity may adjust a header compression parameter based on the RLC delivery notification or the MAC delivery notification. The RLC delivery notification may be used for lossless handover. Retransmission may be performed at the upper layer based on the RLC delivery notification or the MAC delivery notification.
Abstract:
A method to determine a back-off adjustment and transmission power adjustment in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method including determining a problem in signal reception and adjusting a back-off and a transmission power based on a plurality of measurement results. The measurement results include common pilot channel received signal code power, received signal strength indicator and uplink interference.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) transmission are disclosed. If a packet has not been successfully transmitted, it is determined whether an HARQ early termination condition is met. If the HARQ early termination condition is met, the HARQ process is terminated and the packet is discarded at the HARQ level. The HARQ early termination condition is met if a positive acknowledgement (ACK) has not been received until the number of retransmissions reaches a predetermined limit that is dynamically configured based on channel condition, measurement, etc. Alternatively, the HARQ early termination condition is met if a transmit power required for successful transmission of the packet is much higher than an actual transmit power. Alternatively, the HARQ early termination condition is met if a transport format combination (TFC) selected for retransmission is different from an optimal TFC. A higher layer may be notified of the early HARQ termination.
