Abstract: A system is proposed for transmission and back transmission of data, preferably within closed line networks, in which a transmitter and a number of receivers (terminals) are in each case provided which are connected to the transmitter in a closed current loop. For data transmission, the transmitter generates a pulsed constant current and, for voltage limitation and stabilisation, makes use of a control circuit in the form of a sample-and-hold circuit which draws surplus constant current from the line when the closed line loop is interrupted by one or more of the connected terminals. An undesirable, excessively high voltage rise is thereby prevented and automatic line balancing is achieved independently of prevailing conditions on the line.
