    Abstract: The objective of the present invention is to provide a method for making a NdFeB system sintered magnet, capable of enhancing the effect of increasing the coercive force and preventing the instability of the effects, and in addition, being inexpensive. The method for making a NdFeB system sintered magnet according to the present invention has processes of coating a NdFeB system sintered magnet with a powder containing Dy and/or Tb, then heating the NdFeB system sintered magnet, and thereby diffusing Rh in the powder into the NdFeB system sintered magnet through a grain boundary, and is characterized in that the powder contains 0.5 through 50 weight percent of Al in a metallic state; and the amount of oxygen contained in the NdFeB system sintered magnet is equal to or less than 0.4 weight percent.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method in which a magnetic powder is packed into a cavity (c) of a rubber mold (m) comprising a rubber material at least a part of which is a mixture of rubber and magnetic powder, and then the rubber mold filled with the magnetic powder are subjected to a magnetic field and a pressure with punches (2a , 2b), thereby compressing the powder to form powder compact. This makes the distribution of magnetic field in the cavity of the rubber mold more homogeneous, and therefore, the distortion, cracking and chipping caused by inhomogenity of the distribution of the magnetic field are prevented, and the resultant powder compact becomes more near-net-shaped i.e., closer to the end product.

    Abstract: The objective of the present invention is to provide a method for making a NdFeB system sintered magnet without an occurrence of a curve or deformation, by using a mold which is inexpensive, easy to be machined, and will not be embrittled. The present invention also provides such a mold. In the present invention, at least a part (e.g. a bottom plate 11) in the mold is made of a carbon material. This enables a production of a NdFeB system sintered magnet without an occurrence of a curve or deformation caused by a friction due to a sintering shrinkage, because the friction between a carbon material and a sintered compact in a sintering process is lower than that between metal and a sintered compact. What is more, a carbon material is advantageous in that it is inexpensive, easy to be machined, and will not be embrittled even after repeated uses of the mold. Such effects can be particularly obtained by using a carbon material as the bottom plate 11, which is subjected to the load of the sintered compact in the sintering process.
