    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for moving an elevator structure upward in order to release an emergency stopper when operated and put in friction engagement with a guide rail.
    SOLUTION: The device comprises a height adjusting means 20 mutually connecting a suspension point in a shaft 2 and the elevator structure 6 and a length adjusting means 40 provided at the suspension point for engaging with an opposite wall 4 of the shaft 2 or an opposite guide rail 50 in the shaft 2. It is conveniently used at a selective position in the shaft 2. Without depending on the existence of a pull-up hook in the shaft 2 at its nearby site, the operation of the emergency stopper is easily released.
