The invention provides compounds and monomers having a carbonate linkage. The monomers can be used to form homopolymers or can be coupled with other monomers to provide a wide variety of non-homopolymers. The invention further provides a wide variety of compositions comprising the compounds, monomers, and polymers. In the exemplary structures below, Q, A, R, and n are as described herein.

The present invention provides amidic polymers, which exhibit shale swelling inhibitor activity having improved biodegradability. The amidic polymers of the invention may be employed in a wide variety of compositions, particularly in subterranean drilling operations. Non-limiting generic structures of the amidic polymers are set out below: formula ( l ) wherein R1-R3 and integers m and n are defined herein.

Carbamate and thiocarbamate compounds are described that comprise a poiymerizable moiety and one or more free hydroxyl and/or thiol groups. Polymers may be obtained by polymerizing these carbamate and/or thiocarbamate compounds. The carbamate and thiocarbamate compounds, as well as the polymers they produce may be formulated into adhesive, agricultural, biocide, cleaning, coating, encapsulation, membrane, oilfield, performance chemical, and personal care compositions.

Polymers are provided that offer gas hydrate inhibition, salt tolerance, and high cloud point. The polymers are polymerized from at least (A) 50 mole percent or more of a monomer selected from the group consisting of: N-vinyl-2-caprolactam, one of its analogues, and combinations thereof, (B) an alkenyl sulfonic acid monomer, salt thereof, or combinations thereof, and (C) an TV-vinyl amide, a (meth)acrylamide or one of its analogues, or combinations thereof. In one embodiment, the (A) monomer is N-vinyl-2-caprolactam, the (B) monomer is 2-acrylamido-2- methylpropane sulfonic acid or salt thereof, and the (C) monomer is N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone, acrylamide, methacrylamide, or combinations thereof.

La présente invention concerne le domaine de la microencapsulation d'ingrédients. Plus particulièrement la présente invention concerne un procédé de synthèse de copolymères cationiques statistiques, comprenant les étapes suivantes : - mélange de monomères dans un solvant, - polymérisation radicalaire à un pH compris entre 3 et 10, caractérisé en ce que ledit mélange comprend entre 30 et 75% (m/m) de monomères de diméthylaminopropyl méthacrylamide (DMAPMA) ou ses dérivés, entre 10 et 45% (m/m) d'hydroxyéthyl méthacrylate (HEMA) ou ses dérivés et entre 10 et 50% (m/m) de monomères d'aminoéthyl méthacrylate (AEMA) ou ses dérivés. L'invention concerne également les copolymères obtenus par un tel procédé et leur utilisation comme polymère cationique pour la microencapsulation d'ingrédients par coacervation complexe.

La présente invention concerne le domaine de l'encapsulation d'ingrédients. Plus particulièrement la présente invention concerne l'utilisation d'un homopolymère aminé pour l'encapsulation d'ingrédients actifs, en particulier d'un homopolymère d'aminoéthyle méthacrylate (ou poly(AEMA)). L'invention concerne également un procédé de synthèse d'un homopolymère d'aminoéthyle méthacrylate, et l'homopolymère produit par un tel procédé. L'invention a également pour objet un procédé d'encapsulation d'ingredients en utilisant l'homopolymère d'aminoéthyle méthacrylate, comme polymère cationique, et les microcapsules produites par ce procédé d'encapsulation.
