Abstract:
A common electrode driving device comprising a first driver for driving such that the voltage of the common electrode of a liquid crystal display panel is maintained at a predetermined level every time a horizontal scanning is carried out, an electric charge storage capacitance having a capacitance larger than a capacitance as a common electrode capacitance, an inductance for constituting a resonance circuit, switching means for switching the resonance circuit such that it operates for a predetermined period of time, and a second driver for charging to the electric charge storage capacitance electric charge to make up for the shortage. Since an amount to be driven by the first driver is decreased due to the electric charge storage capacitance and since the second driver excessively charges electric charge to the electric charge storage capacitance, it is possible to change the voltage of the common electrode to a desired level more quickly.
Abstract:
Speaker adaptation is provided which easily enables a person to use a Hidden Markov model type recognizer previously trained by other particular person or persons. During training process, parameters of Markov models are calculated iteratively for example using Forward-Backward algorithm. The adaptation comprises storing and utilizing the intermediate results or probabilistic frequences of the last iteration. During the adaptation process, parameters are calculated by interpolation of the weighted sum of the stored probabilistic frequences and the ones obtained using new training data.
Abstract:
A driver for driving a common electrode of a liquid crystal display panel comprises a first driver for driving the common electrode to hold a predetermined voltage every horizontal scan period, a charge hold capacitance having a capacity bigger than a capacity of the common electrode as a capacitance, an inductance for constructing a resonance circuit, switch means for switching to operate the resonance circuit for a predetermined period when the voltage of the common electrode is changed, and a second driver for putting insufficient charges into the charge hold capacitance. The driving by the first driver is reduced because of the charge hold capacitance. The second driver puts surplus charges into the charge hold capacitance so that the voltage of the common electrode can be more quickly changed to a desired voltage.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a speech recognition system of the type comprising a plurality of probabilistic finite state models each having a number of states and the ability of undergoing transitions from one state to another and producing a corresponding output representing a speech element, and means for defining for each model probability parameters each representing the probability that the model will undergo a transition from one predetermined state to another predetermined state and produce a corresponding output. Such a system can be used to recognise input speech data by initially dividing the input speech data into individual speech elements (4, 5, 6) and then applying the input speech elements to the models, and utilising the probability parameters of the models to recognise the input speech elements. According to the invention the speech recognition system is characterised in that it comprises training means (8) for supplying training speech data to the models in order to train the models and to define initial values for the probability parameters for each of the models, and adaptation means (9) for supplying adaptation speech data to the models in order to adapt the models and to define adapted values of the probability parameters for each of the models. The adapted values of the probability parameters are used to recognise the input speech elements (10).
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make it possible to execute speech recognition utilizing signal processing data in addition to speech signal processing by a signal processing card packaged on a bus of a personal computer. CONSTITUTION: The signal processing card 5 loaded to the bus 2 of the personal computer 1 has a bus master 6 and a main memory 4 in the computer 1 is accessed by the bus master 6. A vast probability value table necessary for speech recognition is stored in the main memory 4, and in each arrival of a label to be processed, a necessary part of the table is read out from a memory in the card 5 by the DMA transfer of the bus master 6 and speech recognition processing is executed.
