Abstract: An escalator or a moving walkway has at least one interior space that is delimited relative to the environment of the escalator or the moving walkway by at least one cladding component. The at least one cladding component includes at least one multi-layer composite steel plate, wherein the at least one composite steel plate has at least one load-bearing layer of low-alloy steel and at least one cover layer of corrosion-resistant steel. The at least one cover layer is arranged at one of two side surfaces of the at least one composite steel plate. The at least one cover layer of the at least one cladding component when mounted on the escalator or the moving walkway is oriented towards the environment.
