Abstract: A device for controlling an elevator system, the elevator system having an elevator shaft delimited by a shaft wall including a wall opening connecting an inner face of the shaft wall to an outer face of the shaft wall, is positioned in the wall opening. The device has a housing receiving a controller for controlling the elevator system, wherein the housing includes a housing opening allowing access to the controller and the housing is rotatably mounted in the wall opening for rotation between a first position and a second position in an operational state of the device. The housing opening is accessible from the outer face of the shaft wall in the first position and from the inner face of the shaft wall in the second position.

Abstract: A method for operating an elevator having a car, a drive engine, shaft doors, signal receptors, an engine controller and a door controller. Each of the shaft doors is reciprocally opened and closed by an associated active door drive and has one of the signal receptors thereat. The method includes: receiving a requesting signal at one of the signal receptors; responding to the requesting signal by instructing the engine controller to control the drive engine to displace the car to a first position with the car roof adjacent to the shaft door at the floor from which the requesting signal originated when that floor is not the lowermost floor, and when the floor is the lowermost floor to a second position above the lowermost floor; instructing the door controller to control the door drive to actively open the door; and switching the engine controller to an inspection mode.

Abstract: A method and an arrangement for determining elevator data based on the position of an elevator car of an elevator system includes the elevator car having a flag reading sensor, the elevator car being movably arranged in a hoistway and can be moved by a drive with a suspension rope over a traction sheave, and the elevator car can be stopped at a plurality of stopping positions of the hoistway. Each stopping position has a flag marker with a flag height. Movement of the elevator car is determined by a control unit connected to an encoder at the traction sheave. When leaving a stopping position, the travelled distance of the elevator car between the stopping position and a flag edge is measured and a stopping inaccuracy is determined by the control unit.

Abstract: An elevator has a safety control unit that distinguishes between a first input signal and a second input signal at an input for selecting an operating mode. The elevator has a main switch device with a switch, the main switch device being accessible from outside a shaft of the elevator. The main switch device and the safety control unit are connected, wherein the switch is switchable from a first state into a second state. The safety control unit operates in a first operating mode when the switch is in the first state, in a second operating mode when the switch is in the second state and the safety control unit detects the first input signal at the input, and in a third operating mode when the switch is switched to the second state and the safety control unit detects the second input signal at the input.

Abstract: A method for determining multiple absolute positions of an elevator car within a shaft of an elevator arrangement uses a portable smart device (smart phone) having a sensor (camera). The method steps include: displacing the elevator car along the shaft during a learning procedure with the portable smart device being releasably attached at a predetermined position at the elevator car; detecting localizing characteristics at each of multiple locations during the learning procedure, the localizing characteristics indicating an absolute position within the shaft, wherein the localizing characteristics are generated by markers such as QR-codes and are detected using the sensor of the portable smart device; communicating information indicating the absolute positions detected during the learning procedure from the portable smart device to an elevator controller; and correlating each of the absolute positions detected during the learning procedure to one of the multiple absolute car positions and storing derived correlation data.
