    Abstract: The invention provides a manufacturing process for MEA that enables sufficient bond strength among an electrolyte membrane and electrode substrates even when the electrolyte membrane comprises a heat-resistant material such as an aromatic polymer. The process comprises pressure bonding an electrolyte membrane with catalyzed electrode substrates to form a membrane-electrode assembly, wherein a good solvent for the electrolyte membrane is applied to at least one of facing surfaces of the opposed electrode substrate and the electrolyte membrane prior to the pressure bonding. The electrolyte membrane may comprise a sulfonated aromatic polymer. The good solvent for the electrolyte membrane may be an aprotic dipolar solvent.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film manufacturing process which reduces defects such as scratches and streaks of a film obtained and yields a polyarylene film with an excellent appearance in obtaining the film from a composition containing a polyarylene having sulfonic acid groups and an organic solvent by casting. SOLUTION: The film manufacturing process involves a step (1) to form a coated film by coating a composition containing a polyarylene having sulfonic acid groups and an organic solvent on a substrate and drying the composition and a step (2) to reduce the content of the remaining organic solvent in the coated film. The sulfonic acid equivalent of the polyarylene is ≥0.3 meq/g. The content of the remaining organic solvent in 100 pts.wt. of the coated film obtained in the step (2) is ≤0.5 pt.wt.     Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrically conductive rubber composition that has low hardness and low strain and shows slight fluctuation in volume resistivity and reduced dependence on surrounding conditions and a process for producing the composition, and furthermore, provide an electrically conductive rubber member using the composition. SOLUTION: This electrically conductive rubber composition comprises a crosslinked particulate polymer, an uncrosslinked polymer (a linear polymer) and an electrical conductivity imparting agent, wherein the crosslinked particulate polymer is a nonpolar polymer (SBR or the like); the uncrosslinked polymer is a polar polymer (NBR or the like); and the electrical conductivity imparting agent is unevenly distributed mainly in the uncrosslinked polymer. The composition can be produced by initiating the kneading of the above components at a temperature (T deg.C) at which a Mooney viscosity of the uncrosslinked polymer attains a value the same as or less than a Mooney viscosity of the crosslinked particulate polymer. Preferably, the crosslinked particulate polymer has an average particle size of not more than 25 μm and a durometer A hardness of 45-80. The objective electrically conductive rubber member is produced by forming the electrically conductive rubber composition and thereafter vulcanizing the formed product.
