Abstract:
The present invention relates to a flame retardant polymer composition comprising (A) a polyethylene, (B) a silicone-group containing compound, (C) an inorganic filler material, and (D) a polypropylene in an amount of 0.1 to 10 wt. % with respect to the total composition, to an article comprising said flame retardant polymer composition, in particular to a wire or cable comprising a layer made of said flame retardant composition and to the use of said flame retardant polymer composition for the production of a layer of a wire or cable. Furthermore, the invention relates to the use of a polypropylene in the production of a flame retardant layer for a wire or cable as a processing aid.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cable comprising one or more insulated conductors which are embedded in a bedding composition, which comprises a) a polymer resin (A) and b) an inorganic filler (B), wherein the polymer resin (A) comprises an olefin homo- and/or copolymer (A.1) which has a weight average molecular weight Mw of 10,000 g/mol or more and a molecular weight distribution MWD of 4.5 or lower and, in a second aspect, to a cable comprising one or more insulated conductors which are embedded in a bedding composition, which comprises a) a polymer resin (A) and b) an inorganic filler (B), wherein the heat release rate HRR of the composition at any time within is the period from 0 s to 200 s after ignition does not exceed a maximum of 80 kW measured with cone calorimetry according to ISO 5660-1. The bedding may also comprise a bedding layer provided between said one or more insulated conductors and an outer sheath layer, wherein the bedding layer comprises the above bedding composition.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a cable comprising one or more insulated conductors which are embedded in a bedding composition having improved flame retardancy. The bedding composition comprises a resin (A) and inorganic filler (B), which is a hydroxide or hydrated compound.
Abstract:
Insulating foam composition for insulation on communication cables, contains 20-95 wt % of an unmodified propylene polymer, having a melt index of 0.1 to 10 g/10 min at 230° C./2.16 kg; and 5-80 wt % of a modified propylene polymer, with a propylene content of up to 100 wt %, and a melt index of 0.05 to 10 g/10 min at 230° C./2.16 kg. The unmodified propylene polymer is a propylene homopolymer; a propylene copolymer of propylene and ethylene or an α-olefin; a polyolefin mixture containing a crystalline copolymer of propylene and ethylene or an α-olefin, and an elastic copolymer containing ethylene and propylene or an α-olefin; or an amorphous, non-isotactic propylene polymer such as a propylene homopolymer, a propylene copolymer containing propylene and an α-olefin. The modified propylene polymer is a polypropylene modified by reaction with a bismaleimido compound, ionizing radiation, or a peroxide.
