Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a hair cosmetic containing a specific ampholytic polymer and a water-soluble inorganic salt and capable of attaining excellent and durable hair-setting without deteriorating the feeling of hair simply by rinsing hair after treatment with the cosmetic. CONSTITUTION:The objective hair cosmetic contains (A) 0.1-20wt% ampholytic polymer soluble in 10wt% aqueous solution of sodium chloride and insoluble in water at a concentration of 0.1wt% at 20 deg.C {especially preferably a copolymer of an acidec vinyl monomer (e.g. methacrylic acid) and a basic vinyl monomer (e.g. dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate) or a polymer of an ampholytic monomer [e.g. 3-dimethyl(methacroyloxyethyl)ammonium-propanesulfonate]} and (B) 0.1-30wt% water-soluble inorganic salt (especially preferably sodium sulfate, sodium chloride, etc.). EFFECT:It exhibits salting-in effect and is free from unagreeable feeling such as stickiness.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a hair cosmetic extremely stable with time and exhibiting excellent hair-setting effect without degrading the feeling of hair by applying to hair and rinsing with water, by using an ampholytic polymer, a water-soluble inorganic salt and xanthan gum. CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmetic contains (A) 0.1-20wt.% ampholytic polymer insoluble in water and soluble in 10% salt solution as 0.1wt.% at 20 deg.C, e.g. a copolymer of an acidic vinyl monomer (e.g. acrylic acid) and a basic vinyl monomer (e.g. diethylaminoethyl methacrylate), (B) 0.1-30wt.% water-solu ble inorganic salt (e.g. sodium sulfate, potassium chloride, etc.) and (C) 0.1-5wt.% xanthan gum. A good conditioning effect can be attained by further compounding 0.1-10wt.% cationic surfactant of formula (one or two of R6-R9 are 8-22C alkyl or hydroxyalkyl and the remainders are 1-3C alkyl, benzyl, etc.; X is halogen or 1-2C alkylsulfuric acid residue).

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a hair setting agent composition having excellent set- retaining power and good feeling by compounding carrageenan with a specific ethylene oxide-added nonionic surfactant. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition contains 0.05-10wt.% of carrageenan and 0.01-30wt.% of an ethylene oxide-added nonionic surfactant which is transparent liquid or transparent paste at 50 deg.C and solid at 25 deg.C (e.g. polyoxyethylene lauryl ether). The composition can be produced by compounding the above active components properly with polymeric substance, oil and fat, alcohol, protein derivative, amino acid, plant extract, vitamin, UV absorber, preservative, colorant, perfumery, etc., and forming by conventional method using a solvent such as water and/or lower alcohol, etc. It can be applied in the form of a foamy setting agent, gel setting agent, pump-spraying setting agent, aerosol mist setting agent, styling agent, etc.
