    Abstract: PURPOSE:Soap for scouring pads in which alkali metal salts of fatty acide used are specified in the average number of carbon atoms, iodine value and neutralization degree, thus forming no rust when manufactured and used and causing reduced scratch on the surface to be polished. CONSTITUTION:Fatty acids partially hydrogenated or bearing double bonds and saturated fatty acids are mixed to adjust the average number of carbon atoms and iodine value to 16-20, preferably 17-19, and 30-45, preferably 35-43 respectively. Further the fatty acid mixture is partially neutralized with an alkali metal to a neutralization degree of 85-98, preferably 90-96 wt%.
