    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a face sheet having specific varied-density structure, capable of reducing residual fluid, good in dry touch feeling, thus useful for sanitary napkins, disposal diapers, etc. CONSTITUTION: There are provided ridges and furrows, open holes 6 surrounded by a nonwoven fabric extended from the surface 8A toward the back surface 8B, and rises 5 are developed by convexedly bending the parts between the open holes adjacent to each other. The sheet thickness (a) at the rises, sheet thickness (c) along the peripheral edge at the lower end of the open holes, and sheet thickness (b) at about intermediate parts between the rises and the above peripheral edge are ensured to satisfy the relationship: (a)>(b)>(c); thus, this surface sheet is high in fluid mobility inside the sheet and stands in good balance between surface softness and form retentivity against compressive force.

This surface sheet is high in fluid mobility inside the sheet and stands in good balance between surface softness and form retentivity against compressive force.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a surface sheet for an absorbing article having improved properties required for the sheet such as fitness, hand and drape, dryness and softness. CONSTITUTION: This surface sheet for an absorbing article is composed of a nonwoven fabric having a number of ridges and grooves alternately arranged to each other in such a manner as to have no plain part. The ridge is curved in a protruding state and the groove is in a recessed state, and the groove has a number of openings with a space between them. A ratio of a bulk softness in the direction parallel to the ridges and the grooves to that in the direction perpendicular to them is >=1.7 and a bulk softness in a direction perpendicular to the grooves is is >=0.7mm.
