Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled composition, containing an extract of a beehive of long-legged wasps, wasps or hornets or Vespula lewisi Lameron, and useful for preventing and treating gingivitis. CONSTITUTION:A composition for the oral cavity containing an extract of a beehive of long-legged wasps, or hornets of Vespula lewisi Lameron. The inflammation of gingivitis is supposed to be caused by action of oral bacteria in the sordes on teeth, i.e. action of collagenase, protease, hyaluronidase, etc. derived from bacteria on the periodontal tissues or local cause of action of amines, endotoxins etc. derived from bacteria or systemic causes such as nutritional conditions or diabetes, etc. The composition containing the extract of the beehive exhibits particularly effective action on reduction and suppression of periodontal inflammations. Water or an organic solvent, e.g. methanol or ethanol, is used as a solvent for extracting the beehive. The amount of the extract to be incorporated is preferably 0.001-10wt% based on the total composition, and particularly preferably 0.01-5wt% from the viewpoint of anti-inflammatory effect and feeling of use.

Abstract: PURPOSE:A composition, containing NaCl, a surfactant and a water-soluble casein, and having improved detergency in the oral cavity and feeling of use without deteriorating the foaming property of the surfactant even in a large amount of the NaCl. CONSTITUTION:A composition for the oral cavity, containing 4-15wt% NaCl, 0.5-5wt% surfactant and 0.5-5wt% water-soluble casein, and usable as a toothpaste, tooth powder, tooth wash and mouthwash, etc. The water-soluble casein preferably has 1g/100ml water (20 deg.C) solubility in water at 7pH, and is obtained by precipitating and separating casein from a skimmilk in an aqueous solution having a pH if necessary adjusted to about the isoelectric point (4.4-4.7pH), and reacting the precipitated casein with an alkali. An anionic surfactant, e.g. sodium lauryl sulfate, ampholytic surfactant, e.g. the imidazoline type, may be used as the surfactant.

Abstract: PURPOSE:The titled dentifrice, containing sodium alkyl sulfate and an N-acylglutamate together, and capable of improving the low foaming property of a dentifrice containing sodium chloride, and having preventing and remedial effect on periodontoses and further a good feeling of use. CONSTITUTION:A dentifrice, containing sodium chloride, and obtained by incorporating usually 0.1-3wt% each, preferably 0.5-3wt% sodium alkyl sulfate and preferably 0.2-1.0wt% N-acylglutamate as a foaming agent in a dentifrice containing usually 5-30wt% sodium chloride, and having improved foaming property even on incorporating sodium chloride having a preventing and treating effect on periodontoses, e.g. gingivitis or pyorrhea alveolaris, and further a good feeling of use without deteriorating a foaming assistant even in storage for a long period.
