Abstract: A composition for the mouth which comprises the following ingredients (A), (B), and (C): an inorganic acid and/or organic acid, an anionic surfactant, and at least one member selected among polyglycerol/fatty acid esters, sorbitan/fatty acid esters, ethers of C6-14 polyoxyethylenes with higher alcohols, polyoxyethylene/fatty acid esters, and polyoxyethylene/polyoxypropylene copolymers. The composition is significantly reduced in the astringency attributable to the anionic surfactant.

Abstract: A method for improving the foaming property of a nonionic surfactant having a straight-chain alkyl group containing from 10 to 16 carbon atoms, and an HLB value of about 13.5 or more is disclosed, which comprises adding (b) a fatty acid monoglyceride represented by formula (I): R -CO-OCH2CH(OH)CH2OH (I> wherein R represents a straight-chain alkyl group having from 9 to 15 carbon atoms, to (a) the nonionic surfactant in a (b)/(a) weight ratio of from 2/8 to 6/5. Abstract: A framed soap composition comprises (a) from 20 to 50% by weight of a fatty acid soap, (b) from 1 to 15% by weight of a nonionic surfactant, and (c) from 0.1 to 5% by weight of an inorganic salt.
