Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a molded resin article having improved abrasion resistance and scratch resistance, by coating the surface of the article with a sputtered layer formed by using a carbon material as a sputtering target. CONSTITUTION:A sputtered layer formed by using a carbon material as a sputtering target is applied to the surface of a transparent resin molded article. The transparent resin is e.g. polycarbonate resin, acrylic resin, etc. The carbon material is e.g. vitreous carbon, graphite, carbon black, etc., and the surface of the sputtering target is mirror-ground. A base-coating of an acrylic or urethane resin is applied to the surface of the resin base, and te surface is subjected to the pretreatment comprising the back-sputtering for about 2-10sec followed by the sputtering of SiO2.
