    Abstract: PURPOSE:To produce the titled polymer excellent in mechanical strength and environmental stability and useful in, e.g., the field of electronic materials, by dissolving or dispersing an aromatic compound or the like in a specified electrolyte solution and electrochemically anodizing it. CONSTITUTION:At least about 0.1mol of an aromatic compound such as benzene or its derivative, at least about 0.001mol of at least one electrolyte selected from among LiBF4, LiAsF6, LiClO4, etc., and at least about 0.001mol of a bivalent silver ion-containing compound such as AgO are dissolved in about 1l of a solvent such as nitrobenzene. An anode comprising, e.g., platinum and a cathode comprising, e.g., nickel are immersed in this solution and a voltage of 5-80V is applied between them to electrochemically anodize said aromatic compound, thus obtaining an electroconductive polymer.
